Ok, this is uncomfirmed Comic-Con Stuff, but early this morning my Bamber-Signal went off to let me know there was new Jamie news to be had on the internets. I dashed to my mobile-Bamber-info device and tapped in to http://travisyanan.blogspot.com/2009/07/few-comic-con-updates.html. I'll save you the trouble of clicking on the info, Now, I watched the series premiere last year, and despite the ardent pleadings of MrsDrJackson's book bag that "Joss is Boss", I was underwhelmed by the debut. I tuned in the next week, hoping for a "Meh, not to sure about Firefly WAIT OMG ARIEL AHHH BEST SERIES EVER BASED ON THIS ONE EPISODE" but gave up. Now, people in the know have told me that it gets WAY better (and I heard this from people who don't wear their bias on they're book bag sleeves) but I don't feel like I should have to invest 6 hours of my life before a series starts to get good. I had pretty much resigned myself to a Dollhouse-less existance, in spite of the fact that the series features Tahmoh apparently asking a lot of people if they know about Dollhouse and/or punching them, and generally that is my kind of TV (please, see any of my BSG reviews for how much I enjoy those types of things.) *rolls eyes* However, apparently Joss was not content to air a TV series that I don't watch, so he added the one ingredient to make me soldier on: Jamie Bamber. Ok, Joss. I give in., I will watch all of season one just so I am caught up. I will watch ardently in the hopes that his character will make a return appearence... Unless we bunnies are treated to another Jamie-Character-Death-Special. And then I'll cry and not watch any more cause I still haven't forgiven you for Wash. Anyway, I've been fanwanking (Bamberrific did we decide if fanwanking is an acceptable Bamber Bunnies word or do I have to change it to something lame and child friendly like daydreaming) about a Jamie-in-a-Joss-thing since I found out Jamie was runner up to fellow Starfury Convention Attendee and Former Flame of my Imagination Sean Maher for the Simon Tam role in Firefly. COME ON JOSS MAKE JAMIE A RECURRING CHARACTER. Even though I know next to nothing I am sure it would make the series better. So who do we think he'll play? The weekly "John" who hires Shadow (that's her name, right?) Something to do with whoever Wash Alan Tudyk Plays unless Wash's Character was killed at the end of last season? A MALE "doll" - come on there HAS to be a call for male, um, versions? Or maybe someone to help Tahmoh ask questions about Dollhouse/Punch People? Stay tuned, and I'll keep you posted with anything else I find out. Maybe I'll even use complete sentences next time. In fact, I am sure Bamberrific will alert you when the official news comes, I'll stick to what I do best - reporting wild speculation and conjecture. Oh, for the Lulz, I came across a forum last week in which someone suggested Jamie play the lead of Bilbo Baggins in the upcoming "Hobbit" movie. Thoughts? Would you like to see Jamie don the furry feet and pointy ears? I laughed for about twenty minutes solid but then remembered that playing Frodo didn't make me want to look at Elijah Wood any less. Let's face it, I think we'd all like to witness the epic that would be watching a two hour movie that centers on exactly what Jamie has got in his pocket-ses. (Non-dirty Hobbit Reference, BTW. Blame Tolkein, not me.)
Updated: July 27 by Bamberrific: Well, it's been confirmed, Jamie's publicist along with a myriad of online sources, including Michael Ausiello from Entertainment Weekly and Korbi Ghosh from Zap2it, confirm Jamie's appearance on Dollhouse, the latter adding that: "his character will not only share scenes with Eliza Dushku's Echo, but with fellow "BSG" alum Tahmoh Penikett (Paul Ballard) as well." They also state that according to FOX Bamber's role has him heavily involved in an engagement that Echo and Ballard are assigned to. All sounds awesome to me. Can't wait for the next season to begin!
