I should really introduce myself as none of you know who I am. I stumbled across you all at the sci-fi forums and you seemed to be having an awful lot of fun, but when I tried to join in with said fun I couldn't log in. So here I am. First off, I'm rubbish at these 'introduce yourself' things; I always feel like a contestant on a bad gameshow: 'Well, Cilla, my name's Sara, I'm a Taurus, and I like pina coladas and getting caught in the rain'... some, all, or fewer of these things may not be true. Well, it's true that my name's Sara, and I actually am a Taurus. I've never had a pina colada and I only like getting caught in the rain if it's one of those summer storms and I'm not too far from home, or at least shelter. I'm English, born and bred in God's Own County (that's Yorkshire, for those who don't know), and live in Leeds with my lovely Scottish fiance and our two cats, who very graciously allow us to stay in their house. I work as a conveyancing assistant and may one day study to be a legal executive but I haven't made a definite decision on that yet. I'm the eldest of 3 and I'm the only girl, so I can be very big-sistery at times, i.e. alternately over-protective and bossy. Sometimes both. I should probably explain my username as people ask me about it a lot. I've been using it, on and off, for years. When I was at school one of my friends was doodling frogs during English and did a character for each of us - I was Flirty Froggy. I liked the picture so much I framed it and put it on my wall. When I was setting up an e-mail account for myself I needed a name and my gaze happened to fall on the picture. Et voila! I am neither frog-like nor particularly flirty, but I like the name. As for the reason we're all here (on this site, not on this world), like most people I first saw Jamie on BSG. The original series was before my time so I had no pre-conceptions going in. In fact, the name Battlestar Galactica was something I was only vaguely aware of. To be honest, I didn't really notice Our Boy at first; he's sort of crept up on me. I didn't start watching the show until the end of season one (bad point to get into it if you don't want to be utterly bewildered) and I think I was too busy thinking 'wtf is going on here?' and trying to get a handle on the show as a whole to notice individuals. It was as we watched Apollo's character develop that I think I started to pay attention - I like my heroes to be deeply flawed, and if they're easy on the eye and have arms like, well, like Jamie's then so much the better. I hadn't seen Hornblower despite hearing good things about it when it was first shown, but fortunately ITV3 has been showing it recently on Sundays and I was able to watch Jamie's whole run, which was wonderful. It was my little Sunday afternoon treat and I miss it now it's gone. I think that's all I have to say for now. I look forward to chatting to you all and with a bit of luck, maybe, one day, one bright shiny day, I'll be able to log in at the sci-fi forums and see you all there. *crosses fingers* |
