Hi! I’m thunder798, and I’m a sci-fi fan. I was born in Sin City (aka Las Vegas, NV). I now live in Ramstein, Germany. I'm married to a very smart and loving man, and I'm the mother to a very smart and extremely adorable 2 year old boy. I’ve been a fan of sci-fi for as long as I can remember. My father was a big fan of the original Star Trek. I do remember watching that as a child. I especially remember watching the original Battlestar Galactica. I’ll admit, I had a crush on Boxey & Apollo. Heck, I still think Richard Hatch is hot! Between that and the Star Wars movies, I had no other choice but to become a sci-fi fan. When the new Battlestar Galactica came around, I was rather hesitant to watch as I wasn’t too pleased with the idea of a female Starbuck. Despite my doubts, I watched the mini and became hooked. Of course, now I don’t enjoy the original as much ‘cause I like Starbuck as a female. I was extremely impressed with how they took the original idea and made it seem more realistic - especially the way they made the characters more flawed and “human”. Lee Adama is one of the characters that made the biggest impact on me. Having a damaged relationship with my own father, I felt a pull towards the character in the mini. The more I watched, the more I became impressed with Mr. Jamie Bamber’s acting ability. He can express so much emotion with just a look. Many actors have difficulties expressing emotions while they speak. I soon took my first step into the sci-fi forums for the show and came across the first Jamie “Apollo” Bamber Appreciation Thread. I was hooked immediately. I did lurk for a while as I had never posted on a message board before, and I was a little afraid since everyone seemed to be such a family. However, as soon as I made my first post, I felt like I had been a part of the group from the beginning. I then decided to put on my “floaties” and plunge into the sewer. Life hasn’t been the same since, and I am forever thankful for that.
