Bunny Name: Ariadnetotherescue; Ari for short Bunny Status: proud e-momma, secret twin, flight suit fanatic, and sewer swimmer with the cutest floaties on the block. My name is Beth and I live in Bend, Oregon. I have been a BamberBunny since I first visited the Sci-Fi boards last July. My big brothers actually introduced me to the series. As a child, I was very much a tom boy, tagging along with my brothers everywhere they went. They were into Star Wars big time, and since they needed someone to play Princess Leia, they let me stick around. My dad is a bit of a Trekkie, and also enjoyed the Original Battlestar Galactica and Buck Rogers. Thus, growing up, I was exposed to a fair share of science-fiction programming, but I would not exactly categorize myself as a huge sci-fi fan. In fact, I tend to appreciate realism in literature, a story that I can put myself into. I am a huge Shakespeare buff; I love how he was able to tap into the human experience and evoke emotion from the audience.
So what draws me to BSG? Human experience – check. Evokes emotion – check. Engages my intellect – check. I love that the show tackles important moral and ethical issues. There aren’t many television series out there that have the guts to go there, and the integrity to stick with it, even when the fan base starts bellyaching about sharks and other such nonsense. It may not be a realistic setting, but the characters and the issues they face are very real. Painfully real. And my favorite character on BSG? Lee Adama, the moral compass of the show, of course! I actually was a Jamie fan before I ever saw BSG. I love historical fiction, especially military or war stories, and I thoroughly enjoyed Horatio Hornblower. I was pleasantly surprised when Archie showed up in the BSG miniseries. And, Mr. Bamber’s acting has only improved from the Hornblower days. I find his ability to communicate volumes through minor facial changes simply amazing. Plus, his constant tongue-sticking-outting is really cute. Hahaha. Currently, I live in one of Mother Nature’s finest playgrounds with my adorable dog, Biscuit. I have a double BA in English and Theology, and an MA in Education. I teach literature and composition at a local high school. I love to travel…I don’t really know what else to say about myself. I’m pretty content with life, and glad to know my fellow Bunnies and Jacks, who have only made my life that much better!
