*Clears throat* Hello, my name is Bamberrific aka Michelle H. and I am a Bamber Bunny. This is just a little info on me, the crazy girl who decided to create this website for the enjoyment of all Bamber Bunnies, everywhere. I am originally from Bedfordshire, England and was raised on sci-fi of all shapes and kinds. Some of my earliest memories are of watching Blake’s 7, Space 1999, Star Trek, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, and of course, Battlestar Galactica (the original series) with my mum. Like many, I was excited to learn that there was a re-make in the pipeline for BSG and made sure to catch the miniseries when it aired. I was immediately enthralled – the writing was tight, the material gripping and the acting outstanding. This was more than a sci-fi show – this was real drama. I was especially enamored with the character of Lee “Apollo” Adama. He was portrayed in a very different way than the “Apollo” in the original series and I loved this fresh, new Lee Adama. I was particularly impressed with Jamie’s ability to speak to the audience through facial expressions – a look saying more than a thousand words. This in turn led to my wanting to know more about the actor that was breathing new life into the character. I was lucky enough to meet him at GenCon 2006 and found him to be intelligent, charming, down-to-earth and funny. Soon after this meeting, I discovered the SciFi.com Battlestar Galactica Forum and was specifically drawn to the Jamie “Apollo” Bamber Appreciation Thread. I began reading members posts and was quickly pulled into the tight-nit community of friends who regularly posted there, all of whom shared this admiration for Jamie’s acting ability (and devilish good looks!) I started posting myself, beginning with a report of my recent brush with the man in question and was immediately welcomed into the fold of the “Bamber Bunnies.” I have become an active Bunny since that time, creating fan art, poetry, designing t-shirts and tripping all over the place to meet fellow bunnies. I am forever thankful to Jamie, who unknowingly has brought so many wonderful friends into my life. A little personal info on me… I am married to B.J. (who is very understanding and supportive of my Jamie “obsession”) whom I met when he was stationed in London with the U.S. Navy. When he returned to America, I came with him and we moved to his home state - Oklahoma. I worked as a Judge's bailiff whilst he went to school getting his undergrad. and postgraduate degrees. We have recently moved to Maryland so that he can begin his new job and I have temporarily joined the ranks of the unemployed. Actually, it's kinda nice to have a short break from being the main breadwinner in the family, but I know I'll be bored out of my brain before too long, so I'll be looking for work as soon as I get the new house ship-shape! I have a law degree and passed the Bar in England, although I never practiced law there. I also spent three years working at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home (www.dogshome.org) where I was able to indulge my passion for animals and help to find them new, permanent, loving homes. I currently have two rescue dogs and one feisty ferret, enriching my life. |
